The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed 4 new Covid-19 cases in Singapore today (1 Mar), according to The Straits Times (ST).
3 of the 4 are from the growing Wizlearn Technologies cluster, while another has no apparent links yet.
Singapore now has 106 confirmed cases thus far.
Wizlearn Technologies, an e-learning company Science Park II, recently became a cluster after reporting 8 cases.
Now with 3 more, the cluster has a total of 11 cases.
1 of the 3, Case 103, is a 37-year-old female Singaporean who is a family member of Case 93, a 38-year-old male Singaporean who tested positive on 26 Feb.
She noticed early symptoms on 20 Feb and consulted a GP on 25 Feb, but didn’t report experiencing any illnesses when Case 93 tested positive. She hence was put under quarantine on 26 Feb.
After telling officials about her recent visit to the GP, however, they immediately sent her to NCID where she was isolated on 29 Feb.
She tested positive for Covid-19 on Sunday (1 Mar).
In an interesting addition, Case 103’s helper from Myanmar became the second new case.
The 25-year-old was similarly under quarantine on 26 Feb, but only told officials yesterday (29 Feb) that she already had symptoms on 23 Feb.
Prior to noticing symptoms, she had travelled to Batam with her employer from 21 to 23 Feb.
She tested positive this morning (1 Mar) too, and is now in an isolation ward at NCID.
The 2 are part of the Wizlearn Technologies cluster, which includes a third patient, who received a quarantine order on 27 Feb as he claimed to have had no recent illnesses.
Investigations on 29 Feb however found that he had consulted a GP on 26 Feb after noticing early symptoms.
He is also in isolation at NCID.
Most curious perhaps is the fourth case, a Japanese national with no links to previous cases or any existing clusters.
The 54-year-old Work Pass holder tested positive for Covid-19 today (1 Mar).
MOH is tracing his close contacts to identify the possible source of infection.
All 4 of the new cases have no recent travel history to mainland China, or Daegu or Cheongdo in South Korea.
As per previous days, more patients are recovering, with 2 leaving hospital today.
A total of 74 have now successfully recovered. Most of the 32 others still in hospital are in stable condition. 7 remain in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
No information is available on those in ICU, but we hope that their condition will improve soon. We wish all patients a smooth recovery.
