1 New Covid-19 Case On 20 Feb, 3 Discharged; S’pore Now Has Most Recoveries Outside Of China

1 New Case Of Covid-19 Confirmed In Singapore On 20 Feb, 3 Others Discharged

On Thursday (20 Feb), the Ministry of Health (MOH) announced 1 new case of Covid-19.

There are now 85 cases in Singapore, with 4 in critical condition.

In better news, 3 more patients were discharged today, and there are now 37 cases of recovery – the most of any country outside of China.

Here’s how the numbers of cases look globally.

36-year-old work pass holder from China infected

Case 85, the only case confirmed today is a 36-year-old Chinese national.

He is a work pass holder and has did not have any recent travel history to China.

He tested positive for Covid-19 this morning and is now in an isolation room at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID).

The Ministry of Health (MOH) is currently conducting contact tracing to establish any possible links to previous cases or travel history to China.

3 more Covid-19 patients discharged on 20 Feb

MOH also reported that 4 Covid-19 patients are currently in critical condition in the ICU.

However, 3 more patients have also been discharged, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 37.

48 Covid-19 patients remain in hospital, most of whom are stable or improving.

Case 82 has both dengue virus and Covid-19

Additionally, MOH also provided updates on case 82 — a 57-year-old woman who tested positive for both dengue fever and Covid-19.

According to The Straits Times, she was initially admitted to Ng Teng Feng Hospital with dengue fever and was placed in a general ward.

However, subsequent tests later confirmed that she also had Covid-19, and she was swiftly transferred to an isolation room.

All patients who were warded with her in the general ward have now been quarantined at Ng Teng Feng General Hospital, to curb any possible spread of the virus.

Hope the dwindling number of cases is a good sign

While it is no doubt worrying that the origins of Case 85’s virus are unknown, we hope the low number of cases today is a sign that the Covid-19 outbreak in Singapore is improving.

Meanwhile, remember to upkeep good hygiene by washing your hands often with soap and to see a doctor with a mask on ASAP should you feel unwell.

Together, we can triumph over the Covid-19 virus.
