The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed 2 new Covid-19 cases in Singapore on Tuesday (3 Mar), bringing the total to 110.
One has links to the growing Wizlearn Technologies cluster, while the other has neither a travel history to any hotspots nor links to previous cases.
Contact tracing is underway for the mysterious case.
The curious case, Case 109, is a 70-year-old male Singaporean who reportedly noticed symptoms on 25 Feb.
He only visited a GP on 27 Feb and again the next day before going to Singapore General Hospital (SGH) on 29 Feb.
After reporting to SGH, test results came back positive for Covid-19 on 2 Mar.
According to MOH, he had reported for work at Fish Mart Sakuraya at West Coast Plaza before his hospital admission, though the exact date is unknown.
He, however, neither served customers nor handled food.
Adding to the Wizlearn Technologies cluster is a 33-year-old male Singaporean, also with no recent travel history to virus hotspots.
MOH didn’t disclose his exact connection to the cluster.
The patient is now in an isolation ward at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID).
In what is perhaps a disappointing turn, no other patients have made successful recovery today (3 Mar), leaving the discharge count standing at 78.
7 patients also remain in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The others are reportedly stable.
Even so, we are hopeful that more recoveries will surface in the coming days, with full trust in Singapore’s good healthcare system.
We wish all the patients a smooth recovery, and extend our heartfelt gratitude to frontline medical staff attending to them.
