On Thursday (16 Apr), Singapore confirmed 728 new Covid-19 cases — just a day after reporting an all-time high increase of 447 cases yesterday.
Here’s an overview of tonight’s numbers, as reported by the Ministry of Health (MOH):
Of the new cases, 81% – or around 590 – are linked to known clusters. The remaining 138 are pending contact tracing.
With today’s numbers, we now have a total of 4,427 confirmed cases and 10 fatalities. Meanwhile, 31 cases have been discharged, meaning 683 have fully recovered.

From 9-15 Apr, MOH had also managed to find uncovered links for 415 cases that were unlinked cases. You can view the full document here.
In slightly more positive news, 2 previous clusters – Masjid Al-Muttaqin and Church of Singapore (Bukit Timah) – are now closed.

Recent developments in Singapore’s Covid-19 outbreak are understandably worrisome. The exponential growth in new infections is illustrated in the graph below.
Singapore is seeing a steep rise of the epidemic curve in the past week.
While most numbers are concentrated within worker dormitories, we cannot deny that the risk is still great due to local cases within our community.
The government is tasked with a mountainous challenge ahead to contain the outbreak.
Hopefully, these numbers give a sobering reminder to all Singapore residents that Covid-19 is not to be taken lightly. The ‘Circuit Breaker’ measures are in place for good reason, and we should follow them well.
