A 27-year-old Malaysian has tested positive for the coronavirus on 30 Apr. He works as a housekeeper at National University Hospital (NUH) but has not gone to work since the onset of symptoms.
Meanwhile, 79 patients have been discharged from the hospital or community isolation facilities. This brings the total number of recovered cases to 1,347.
1,710 patients are still hospitalised, of which 24 are in critical condition in the intensive care unit. 14,474 are still in isolation.
Unfortunately, a 76-year-old Singaporean male has passed away from complications due to the Covid-19 infection. Known as Case 1323, he had a history of cancer, and passed away on 1 May.
Case 17410, a 47-year-old Bangladeshi national, also passed away on 1 May. However, he was confirmed to be infected after his passing, and investigations are currently ongoing to determine the case of death.
The last time less than 500 cases were reported was on 15 Apr, where a coincidental 447 cases were also reported.
Hopefully, the numbers fall further in the next few days, and we can see a permanent end to ‘Circuit Breaker’ measures.
However, we must remember not to be complacent, and stay vigilant for the time being.
