A crow that was found covered in glue was helped by the Animal Concerns Research and Education Society (ACRES), whose officers cleaned the unfortunate bird.
In a Facebook post on Friday (25 Sept) local radio DJ Ye Limei said she found the crow doused in what she thought was “oil” and tied to a metal railing.

Ms Ye said she had just reached the bank near her place when she came upon the sad sight of a “dying” crow under the scorching sun.
It was drenched in “oil” and its legs were tied with a piece of raffia string to a metal railing, rendering it unable to escape.

“Clearly, someone intended for it to die of thirst and heat exposure,” she maintained, adding:
Even if one dislikes crows, is it necessary to torture it to death like this?
Unable to bear the sight of the suffering crow, a man whom she had passed by earlier went to his van to look for a pair of scissors.
He also tried to undo what Ms Ye described as a “dead knot”.
On her part, she gave the crow water and moved it under the shade. She also tried to cut away the string, she said.
As they were helping the crow, it watched them intently, which prompted her to tell it, “We’re trying to save you; don’t struggle.”
It seemed to understand and gradually became more conscious after drinking water.
However, she could not remove the glue despite dousing the crow with water, and she feared that it might never fly again.
While the man said they had done everything, Ms Ye could not just abandon the crow, so she called ACRES.
After initially being unable to get in touch, ACRES responded and came down to look for the crow, which had crawled under a car.

They subsequently told her that the crow had been doused in glue.
In a second post, she shared a photo of ACRES officers trying to wash off the glue by pouring something from a bottle.

They then took it away in their van.

ACRES told her that the crow was healthy, she noted, adding that it was quick on its feet when she tried to catch it earlier.
Ms Ye said that while she had been physically and mentally exhausted lately, rescuing the crow gave her an energy boost.
Though the rescue process was tiring, doing the right thing, especially something meaningful, not only benefits a life but generates a great deal of positive energy, she added.
Netizens praised her for her compassion and kindness, saying that kind-hearted people who do good deeds will be rewarded.
