Police in the United States revealed how a baby, who medical staff pronounced dead hours earlier, was later breathing and alive in the morgue.
According to KOLD News, the 18-month-old toddler may have brain damage as a result of drowning. The parents are facing charges of child abuse.
The doctor is not facing any criminal charges.
The incident occurred on 8 Feb 2026. At around 5.30pm, during a party celebrating the Super Bowl, an emergency call came in after the baby had been floating face down in a pool for roughly 10-15 minutes.
First responders rushed to the scene, where they performed CPR on the baby before conveying him to the hospital. Unfortunately, they pronounced the toddler dead at 6.20pm.

Police records say a nurse had stated that she “felt a pulse” as the doctor headed to tell the parents that their baby was dead. The doctor reportedly “arrogantly” dismissed it and said that “he was the doctor, he has the medical degree, he went to medical school for a reason, and to let him do his thing”.
The doctor then made the nurses stop all life-saving measures.
When the parents expressed that they felt like their baby was still breathing, medical staff told them it was “agonal breathing”.
Five hours later, while police were interrogating them, they informed the parents that their baby was alive. One of the medical examiners had discovered the baby breathing after trying to move him. The baby was swiftly airlifted to the hospital.
The parents are facing charges of child abuse after admitting that they had been smoking marijuana and not watching their child closely during the party.
Meanwhile, the doctor faces no criminal charges.
