Dyson Founder Moves To Singapore, Buys Our Most Expensive Penthouse For $74 Million

Dyson Founder Buys 3-Storey Wallich Residence Penthouse At Tanjong Pagar

Hardly unexpected, considering that Sir James Dyson’s net worth stands at an almost boundless S$13 billion.

His purchase of the penthouse comes after consumer electronics maker Dyson’s announcement that it will be shifting its HQ from the UK to Singapore.

The penthouse on the top floors of Wallich Residence at Tanjong Pagar is supposedly Singapore’s most expensive, with a market value of above S$100 million. Sir Dyson, however, reportedly paid only S$73.8 million for it.

Wallich Residence’s triplex super penthouse

The grandiose name is matched equally by the grandeur of the 3-level penthouse.

The penthouse ‘starts’ on the 62nd floor with a spacious family lounge. From the pictures available, it seems large enough to accommodate multiple gatherings at once with both its  indoor and outdoor spaces.

One floor up is the more private family room. We’re not sure if that grand piano comes with the penthouse, but hey, if the buyer can afford the penthouse, we’re sure it is peanuts to him or her.

Hidden somewhere on the same floor is a 600-bottle wine cellar. That’s right, it is the duty of every ultra-wealthy person to have a penchant for wine.

Finally, the top floor — a sky lounge. Consider yourself lucky if you’re a guest, because if the host permits, you’ll be able to relax in the private pool with a mesmerising view of the city skyline.

Wait, they aren’t done. Luxury goes further than physical structures. Residents of the penthouse can call upon a 24-hour dedicated butler. According to their press release, “no request is too trivial”.

Most expensive penthouse in Singapore

With the purchase, Sir Dyson has just secured the top spot for the most expensive penthouse in Singapore.

The price tag of S$73.8 million edges out Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin’s Bukit Timah penthouse, which he had bought in 2017 for about S$60 million.

Hopefully, Sir Dyson will enjoy his stay in Singapore as much as other expatriates who have been here before.
