Eunos Residents Celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival Despite Haze, Clear Litter After Festivities

Pritam Singh Shares How Eunos Residents Came Together Despite Mid-Autumn Festival Haze

Gazing at the full harvest moon while basking in the gentle glow of lanterns is definitely one of the highlights of Mid-Autumn Festival.

But the central spirit of the festive occasion still revolves firmly around the idea of reunion and community — as proven by the residents of Eunos last week.

Despite the haze, Singaporeans turned out in droves to celebrate the festival with free mooncakes, in a heartwarming affair on Saturday (14 Sep) evening.

Here’s how Mr Pritam Singh spent Mid-Autumn Festival surrounded by civic-minded citizens who stayed back to “clear any stray litter” before “calling it a night” at the celebration.

Haze didn’t dampen Eunos residents’ spirits

Although PSI levels weren’t looking ideal, the haze didn’t stop Eunos residents from turning up to spread the Mid-Autumn Festival cheer to the estate.

Mr Pritam Singh – Aljunied GRC’s Member of Parliament – shared a heartfelt post about how he was heartened to see Singaporeans of all ages enjoy Mid-Autumn Festival together.

Neighbours of all ages, nationalities & religions came together to indulge in free mooncakes, and win prizes from street games.

Blk 137 residents picked up litter before going home

Stray litter – paper lanterns & candle wax strewn all over void deck floors are common in the aftermath of MAF every year – was also “enthusiastically cleared” at Blk 137’s open plaza before everyone called it a night.

Mr Singh shares that he was sure the cleaners would be “pleasantly surprised” at the initiative the next morning.

We’re glad that his heartland connection still appears to be going strong, and that everyone had a good time at the party.

Will be monitoring PSI index closely

Mr Singh concludes his post with a promise to continue monitoring the PSI index closely.

He also shares his hope that the forest fires in Sumatra will be “put out soon”. And that residents will minimise outdoor activities accordingly depending on the PSI levels.

In any case, we’re extremely glad that the kampung spirit is well and alive in Eunos. Hopefully, next year’s Mid-Autumn Festival will have an even bigger turnout, and clear skies for residents to enjoy the full moon.
