A Singapore fan was in for an unexpected surprise at Funan after running into K-pop star L, aka Kim Myung-soo, who was ordering food at McDonald’s.

Fan runs into Kim Myung-soo at Funan

The Original Poster (OP) @alextheapollokid_ shared the encounter in a TikTok video posted on Monday (24 Aug).

The caption read: “What do you mean I just randomly ran into Myung-soo from INFINITE at Funan?”

In the video, the OP said: “Guys, I’m at Funan and I just randomly ran into L or Myung-soo.”

The Korean singer and actor was casually ordering food at McDonald’s when the OP recognised and approached him.

“Are you L or Myung-soo? Can I take a picture?”  he asked.

However, Myung-soo politely declined the photo request.

According to the OP, the INFINITE member instead shook his hand and said: “Nice to meet you, sorry I cannot take any pictures.”

Netizens also wowed by OP’s lucky encounter

A netizen who works next to Funan said the OP was “so lucky” and wished that they had taken their break at the mall instead.

OP grew up listening to INFINITE

Speaking to MS News, the OP, Alex, a student and content creator, said that he ran into the K-pop star on 24 Aug at about 3pm.

“I was just walking around Funan while waiting for my food to be ready, and suddenly noticed him ordering a meal at McDonald’s with his team,” he said.

At first, he thought it was just a lookalike, but once he realised it was actually him, he freaked out because he grew up listening to INFINITE’s songs.

“I still wanted to be respectful, so I just stood at the side and waited till they were done ordering before going up to ask for a picture,” Alex shared.

He was also surprised that Kim was just walking around without a mask or bodyguard. However, that also meant that he felt comfortable and safe enough in Singapore to do so.

Alex said he was naturally “a little disappointed”, but felt that Kim’s choice to decline his photo offer was “normal” and “expected”.

He is a celebrity but he still deserves his privacy and personal space.
