A fire broke out at Fengshan Market & Food Centre on Monday (12 Oct) night, prompting the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) to put it out using buckets of water.
Footage of the incident posted on TikTok showed several firefighters and police officers in front of a prawn noodle stall at the food centre, which is also known as “Bedok 85”.

More images posted by East Coast GRC MP Hazlina Abdul Halim on Facebook showed a firefighter climbing a ladder next to the stall, apparently to check the piping above.
A section of the food centre in front of the affected stall and its neighbouring stalls had been cordoned off by police tape.

Ms Hazlina said she was alerted to the fire just before her Meet-the-People Session (MPS), which she calls a “Meaningful People Session”,
She was relieved to learn that the fire was put out and nobody was hurt.
She thanked the police and SCDF, which was already at the scene with town council workers when she arrived with some volunteers.
The Fengshan team is “ready” to support the Merchants Association and the affected stalls, she added.
In response to queries from MS News, SCDF said it was alerted to the fire at abvout 7.15pm on 12 Oct.
It took place at Block 85 Bedok North Avenue 4 — the address of Fengshan Market & Food Centre.
The blaze involved the contents of a stall in the market, SCDF noted.
It was extinguished by SCDF using buckets of water, with no injuries reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
