Easties, are you ready for a sneaker invasion?
World-famous sneaker store Foot Locker is landing in Singapore, with its first footprint (geddit?) at the revamped Century Square.
The mall in Tampines reopened on Wednesday (Jun 6) this week.
Foot Locker’s opening in Singapore makes sense, since ath-leisure has become the style of choice for many Singaporeans.
The American retailer offers a one-stop shop for anyone looking to add a sporty twist to their wardrobes.
Its shoes range from basketball kicks from Nike and adidas to casual shoes from Converse and Timberland.
An Asian expansion might help revive the fortunes of the ailing Foot Locker, which shut some 110 stores this year in the United States.
Foot Locker CFO Lauren Peters told investors earlier this year:
“We continue to prune the fleet of under-productive stores and open a few select, high-profile stores.”
Foot Locker is the latest Ath-Leisure shop to crop up in Singapore.
Earlier this year, JD Sports opened its doors at Jurong Point, with a second outlet in town in the pipeline.
Then there’s Decathlon, which isn’t an ath-leisure shop per se, but that offers cheap sporting goods.
The sporting megastore, dubbed the IKEA of Sports, will be opening its second store at Kallang in January 2019.
