A 41-year-old man will be charged in court on Wednesday (23 Sept) for his suspected involvement in cheating and forgery offences.
The man was a deputy manager at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) and used his position to make several unauthorised bookings, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said in a news release posted the day before.

On 3 July 2025, the police received a report about the man’s misuse of authority and investigated the case further.
According to the SPF, preliminary investigations revealed that the man had made more than 180 unauthorised bookings of SUTD’s football facilities over a period of approximately three years.

The fraudulent bookings resulted in a total revenue loss to SUTD of more than S$130,000.
The police believe that the man deleted bookings from the system in an attempt to conceal his actions.

Therefore, the man will be charged in court for cheating under Section 417 of the Penal Code 1871 and forgery under Section 465 of the Penal Code 1871.

The offence of cheating carries a jail term of up to three years, a fine, or both.
Additionally, offenders guilty of forgery can be imprisoned for up to four years, charged with a fine, or both.
In a media statement, the police said that they take a serious view of individuals who abuse their positions of trust to commit criminal offences.
Furthermore, SPF added that it will not hesitate to take firm action against those who blatantly disregard the law.
