S’poreans Can Claim Reuseable Masks On 5 Apr From Heartland Community Centres & RCs

Reuseable Masks For All S’poreans Distributed From 5 Apr At CCs & RCs

Update (3 Apr, 8.20pm): According to Minister of Trade and Industry Chan Chun Sing’s Facebook post, each Singapore resident is entitled to 1 reusable mask.

Households can also collect on behalf of their family members by bringing along their identification cards or documents.

PM Lee addressed the nation on Friday (3 Apr) to introduce more measures in light of recent Covid-19 developments.

These include free masks for all households in Singapore — this time, reuseable ones.

Distribution of the free masks will begin on Sunday (5 Apr), at heartland Community Centres (CCs) and Residents’ Committees (RCs).

Unlike the 4 surgical masks handed out per person previously, reuseable masks have replaceable filters and can be washed.

Free reusable face masks from government

According to PM Lee’s statement, Singaporeans will be receiving reusable masks from Sunday (5 Apr) onwards.

These reusable masks will help Singaporeans stay protected from the virus, rationing our stock of surgical masks for hospital staff.

To reach all households across Singapore, People’s Association will help to distribute the supplies.

Date: 5-12 Apr
Time: 10am onwards
Weekdays: 3pm – 9pm daily
Weekends & PH: 10am – 9pm
Location: Community Centres & RCs

Do note that mask collection should be done in person at respective community centres and RCs.

Respect priority queues for seniors

All residents should check Mask Go Where’s website for detailed info on collection to be posted shortly, closer to the date of distribution.

If you’re concerned about the wait time, there will be “priority queues” allocated to seniors.

We should all try to be gracious and allow our seniors to claim their supplies first.

How will reuseable masks help protect us?

Covid-19 is known to spread via respiratory droplets such as saliva or nasal discharge.

Face masks help to “keep droplets to yourself”, according to PM Lee, reducing risks of transmitting the virus to people around you.

Singapore’s stance on face masks has evolved due to the possibility of asymptomatic patients passing the virus to others.

As such, the government will “no longer discourage people from wearing face masks”, confirmed PM Lee.

Those more vulnerable to Covid-19 – including elderly and citizens with underlying health conditions – are advised to use a face mask to protect themselves when venturing outdoors.

Besides masks, proper hygiene will help keep us safe

Of course, besides masking up, washing your hands and practicing social distancing are still the most essential steps.

Singaporeans have been urged to stay at home, with the shutdown of schools, non-essential shops & most workplaces.

With these stricter measures to contain the Covid outbreak, we should all refrain from leaving our homes unless absolutely necessary.

We can all join our frontline workers in battling Covid-19 in a simple way — by doing our parts to be responsible citizens.
