A Thai game developer has gone viral after showcasing how he designed a demonic boss for his indie game — by sneakily taking a photo of his sleeping wife and then using it as a model.
The post he shared in an indie game developer Facebook group quickly garnered over 57,500 likes and over 400 comments since it was posted on 12 July.
While many of the comments joked about the situation, some were also concerned about his wife’s consent to the matter.
In the post, the game developer explained that he was looking for inspiration around the house.
He then had the idea that it was only fitting that his wife be the “lore-accurate guardian for the wedding ring” in his game.
He jokingly explained his creative process, which first required him to stealthily acquire a photo of his sleeping wife.
“She stayed up late baking for the kids, which meant she was in a very deep sleep by morning,” he wrote, adding that the timing and lighting were both perfect.

“If she were awake, her natural instinct would be to pose and try to look pretty. We need monster material here!” he explained.
Using photo-editing software, he then merged together multiple images of his wife along with other references to create a demonic boss fit for his game.
The end product features a monster with multiple faces, with hands sticking out of its mouths, along with gore.
“She must be so proud of me,” he wrote, before providing a link to his game’s Steam page.
The game, called Billy the Hero, is currently still in development.
The comments quickly filled with jokes saying the game developer will surely find himself on the receiving end of his wife’s fury.
“You made an ugly monster out of her. You’re gonna be sleeping on the couch for the next 20 years,” one commenter wrote.

Another even asked for updates, not for the game but for his marital status.
Others also expressed concern about whether the developer had received his wife’s permission to post the raw photos of her sleeping beforehand.

The overwhelming response shocked the game developer, who posted a response a while later.
He said not to worry about his wife and that she was understanding, attaching a playful photo of her “pampering” him.

“Don’t worry, my wife is a very gentle soul and doesn’t hold grudges over stuff like this. As you can see, she’s still pampering me today just like usual,” he wrote.
