Police in Thailand are searching for a 27-year-old German national who allegedly destroyed furniture, appliances, windows, and other parts of the house he had been renting.
The vandalism was discovered on Tuesday (25 Aug) at a two-storey house in Krabi Municipality, with the homeowner estimating losses of at least 500,000 baht (around S$19,400).

At around 5.30pm, Police Sub-Lieutenant Chanwit Jaemsai, deputy investigation inspector at Mueang Krabi Police Station, received a complaint from the homeowner, identified as Mrs Pattaralada.
She told police that she believed her foreign tenant had vandalised the property before disappearing.
When officers arrived, they found extensive damage throughout the house.
Furniture, household items, electrical appliances, walls, interior doors, and glass windows on both floors had reportedly been smashed.

Broken glass and debris were also scattered across the floors.
Mrs Pattaralada identified the tenant as Enderes Kai, a 27-year-old German national who had been renting the property for about four months.
She said neighbours had contacted her after hearing loud smashing noises coming from the house over the previous two days.

After repeatedly failing to reach the tenant by phone, she went to check on the property herself.
She found the house locked and the tenant nowhere to be seen, although his motorcycle was still parked outside.
After noticing that several windows had been broken, she used a spare key to enter as she was concerned that something might have happened to him.
Instead, she found the interior of the house severely damaged.

A security guard at the estate later told her that the German man had been seen walking out of the estate at around noon that day.
During their inspection, officers detected a strong smell of cannabis in a second-floor bedroom.
They also found damaged cannabis-use equipment and a box of shotgun ammunition inside a wardrobe.

Police collected evidence from the scene and contacted immigration authorities to have the man’s passport flagged amid concerns that he could leave the country.
The motive remains unclear, although police suspect the person responsible may have used drugs and experienced hallucinations or erratic behaviour, citing the smell detected inside the property.
Authorities are continuing to search for the German man and intend to take legal action once he is located.
