Emergency resuscitation was administered at the scene before she was taken to Putrajaya Hospital for further treatment.
Despite that, she was subsequently pronounced dead.
Speaking to The New Straits Times, the girl’s father said that he found his daughter lying unconscious in the school’s second-floor corridor when he rushed down.
He added that the ambulance arrived after about 15 minutes.
At the hospital, doctors reportedly told him that his daughter’s airway had likely been blocked by food.
However, the exact cause of death is yet to be confirmed.
Sepang police have classified the case as a sudden death, with further investigation underway.
A post-mortem examination was conducted at Putrajaya Hospital at 8am on Tuesday (20 Oct) to determine the cause of death.
In a statement released on 20 Oct, the Selangor State Education Department pledged its full cooperation to investigations into the death.
It is also providing welfare assistance to the deceased’s family and the affected school community.
Police have also urged the public not to circulate unverified information about the case while investigations are ongoing.
