A group of Singapore groomsmen brought some nostalgia to a wedding by dressing up as characters from Journey to the West for the gatecrash.
The men were seen in their costumes beneath an HDB block in a TikTok video posted by wedding videographer account Bokbokeh on 12 Oct.
Captioned “journey to the where”, the clip showed the group dressed as familiar characters from the classic Chinese story.

Speaking to MS News, the bride, Dione Tan, said the surprise took place during her wedding on 11 Oct 2026 at Jade Fullerton.
Dione, who runs her own scalp micropigmentation business Roots of Majesty, said she had no idea that the men would be dressing up.
The idea came from the groom, Nigel, who selected the characters. The groomsmen then chose their costumes on a first-come, first-served basis.
The seven characters featured were Sun Wukong, Sha Wujing, Tang Sanzang, Zhu Bajie, Guanyin, Nezha and Erlang Shen.
Dione joked that Nezha was the last character to be picked.

The groomsmen were all friends whom the couple had known since their childhood and school days.
Dione said she was stunned when she saw the group dressed up, as the idea had never crossed her mind.
“I must say, they really lived up to the character they chose,” she added.

The costumes were part of the wedding gatecrash, which the couple organised simply for fun and laughter.
Dione said they wanted to create enjoyable memories that they could look back on when they were older.
The unexpected appearance also brought laughter from those around them.
