Information about Covid-19 patients’ last places they visited may leave those who frequent those areas worried, but there’s no reason to.
GYMMBOXX Bishan recently became one such place, after a member tested positive for the virus on Saturday (22 Feb) night.
The gym confirmed this in a Facebook post late last night, citing a call they had received from the Ministry of Health (MOH).
Taking immediate action, the management has closed the Bishan outlet for disinfection.
If you’ve visited GYMMBOXX Bishan within the past 2 weeks, there’s probably not much to worry about as the said member hasn’t either.
According to GYMMBOXX, the last time he/she visited the gym was over 2 weeks ago, on 6 Feb.
The member only tested positive for Covid-19 late Saturday night (22 Feb).
Several other members in the comments section who’ve visited the gym since then claim that they are feeling fine, in hopes of reassuring others.
Following the shocking call from MOH, GYMMBOXX closed its Bishan outlet right away, announcing the move in the same post.
They will be engaging an agent which the National Environment Agency (NEA) has appointed to disinfect the premises and “ensure that all equipment in the gym will be safe for the future use of our valued members and guests”.
Once they get the all-clear, the outlet will reopen, though when that will be remains uncertain for now.
Till then, GYMMBOXX advises members to stay calm and seeks their understanding in the matter.
MOH confirmed today (23 Feb) that the GYMMBOXX member was 1 of the 3 cases reported yesterday (22 Feb).
The 41-year-old Permanent Resident (PR) first noticed symptoms on 3 Feb, after which he visited a general practitioner (GP) the same day.
He sought treatment again on 7, 10, 17 and 21 Feb, all across 2 different GP clinics.
Since he visited the gym on 6 Feb, this means that he had been there once after first noticing symptoms.
Doctors referred him to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) on 21 Feb, and he tested positive for Covid-19 the next morning (22 Feb).
He is currently in an isolation ward in NCID.
In light of GYMMBOXX’s quick response, we trust that they’re doing everything necessary to ensure the cleanliness of the premises, so we hope that that means there’s nothing for customers to worry about.
The gym is out of bounds for now, so do steer clear until further announcements are made.
