HDB Car Park Grace Period Now 20 Mins Till 31 May To Facilitate More Deliveries

HDB Car Park Grace Period Extended To 20 Minutes Until 31 May, But No Lingering Allowed

Now that Singaporeans are discouraged from going out, more are opting for delivery services to bring them food and groceries.

With more orders to handle, the 10-minute grace period at Housing & Development Board (HDB) carparks may not be enough for riders on the move.

Aware of this concern, HDB and the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) have decided to extend free parking to the first 20 minutes of entry until 31 May.

Read on for more details about the longer grace period.

Grace period in HDB car parks now 20 minutes

Previously, the 10-minute grace period would have been enough for personnel to pop in and out for a quick delivery.

But now with a higher volume of orders in each area, they’re likely to take more time to settle deliveries.

A longer grace period would thus help riders and deliverymen to save costs, instead of paying for a few minutes of parking.

Now that charges only start after 20 minutes, they won’t have to rush to fulfill orders and can do their work calmly while making sure they adhere to safety measures.

Those who do not exit within 20 minutes will still be charged parking fees.

Motorists should not linger unnecessarily

Even with the longer grace period, motorists are not to linger unnecessarily in car parks.

This is in line with the current safe distancing measures.

This policy will be effective immediately, until 31 May, thus allowing time to adjust once deliveries dwindle.

Hopefully, deliverymen will be able to conduct their deliveries more smoothly with the longer grace period.
