For locals and tourists alike, chilli crab is practically synonymous with Singapore’s food scene, and JUMBO Seafood is one of the names that has helped bring the dish to diners here and overseas.
Now, the restaurant is preparing to say goodbye to the place where it all started.
JUMBO Seafood’s flagship outlet at East Coast Seafood Centre will cease operations on 30 Sept, when its lease comes to an end ahead of redevelopment works in the East Coast Park area.

Before closing its doors, the restaurant is marking its 39-year run with limited-time celebratory set menus that bring back dishes from its earlier days alongside familiar JUMBO favourites.
Half of the sales proceeds from the celebratory set menus will also go towards six selected local charities.
JUMBO Seafood opened its first restaurant at East Coast Seafood Centre in 1987, before growing into a brand with outlets in Singapore and several overseas markets.
To mark the end of its time at the location, the East Coast flagship will offer special set menus from now till 29 Sept, available exclusively at the outlet.

The menus cater to groups of four to 10 diners, with prices ranging from S$258++ to S$1,028++.
They pair some of JUMBO Seafood’s best-known dishes with older favourites that are no longer part of its regular menu, giving diners a chance to revisit flavours from different points in the restaurant’s history.
The farewell is also a chance for JUMBO Seafood to give back to the community that has supported it over the years, with 50% of sales proceeds from the celebratory set menus going to six selected charitable organisations.

Among the highlights is JUMBO’s Award-Winning Chilli Crab served with Man Tou, one of the dishes most closely associated with the restaurant.
Another throwback is the Nostalgic Chilled Australian Lobster with Salad Cream & Mixed Fruits, served as part of a platter.

Diners can also revisit off-menu dishes such as Signature Homestyle Crispy Seafood Tofu and Braised Broccolini with Bai Ling & Shiitake Mushrooms in Oyster Sauce.
Other dishes featured across the celebratory menus include Seafood Fish Maw Soup, Mocha Pork Ribs, Garlic Fried Chicken, Long Hu Garoupa Steamed with Soya Sauce, and Supreme Seafood Fried Rice.

The restaurant’s last day on 30 Sept will culminate in a celebratory dinner bringing together JUMBO Group’s partners and suppliers.
The meal will feature a mix of the restaurant’s signature dishes and recipes inspired by its earlier menus, bringing its nearly four-decade chapter at East Coast to a close.
“While we bid farewell to the place where JUMBO began, we also celebrate 39 years of shared memories and the people who have made this journey possible,” said Ang Kiam Meng, Executive Chairman and Group CEO of JUMBO Group.
He added that the outlet had welcomed generations of diners from Singapore and abroad, and that bringing back older dishes while supporting charitable causes was the company’s way of thanking those who had been part of its journey.
JUMBO Seafood will continue operating its other restaurants in Singapore and overseas after the East Coast flagship shuts.
