The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has temporarily suspended the licence of La Mian Shaved Noodles food stall at Bishan Street 13.
This comes after the stall had incurred 12 demerit points for selling food containing a foreign matter. In addition, they failed to keep their licensed premises free of infestation.
The stall has received an S$800 fine as well.
In their press release, SFA revealed that they suspended the licence of La Mian Shaved Noodles at 514 Bishan Street 13, #02-494.
The suspension will apply for two weeks from 31 May to 13 June, both dates inclusive.
SFA stated that the suspension was due to the stall incurring 12 demerit points within 12 months.
This involved selling food which contained foreign matter, which resulted in six demerit points, and failing to keep licensed premises free of infestation, incurring another six points.
For these offences, the stall has also received a S$800 fine.
Based on SFA’s track records, the agency will either suspend the food licenses of licensees with 12 or more demerit points within a 12-month period for two or four weeks, or cancel them.
Food handlers working on these premises must re-attend and pass the WSQ Food Safety Course Level 1. Only then can they resume their work.
The licensee must also ensure that all food hygiene officers working on the suspended premises re-attend and pass the course.
SFA emphasised that they take a serious view of such offences. In addition, they reminded food operators to observe good food and personal hygiene practices at all times, and engage only registered food handlers.
“SFA will not hesitate to take firm action against anyone found to be in violation of the Environmental Public Health Act,” they stated.
Members of the public who come across poor food safety practices can provide their feedback via this online form. Alternatively, they can call the SFA Contact Centre at 68052871 with details.
