Motorists frequently travelling along Lornie Road will be familiar with traffic jams that occur during the peak hours.
Fortunately for these people, traffic conditions in the area may become smoother in the near future.
On Tuesday (19 Mar), the Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced that the northbound section of the Lornie Highway will be open on 19 Apr, which is expected to ease traffic around the area.
The northbound section of the Lornie Highway boasts 4 lanes, and will be able to cope with heavy traffic during the peak hours.
This new section of the highway will cater to the increase in traffic in the nearby Bukit Brown area, which is currently undergoing redevelopment.
Authorities estimate that traffic will increase by 20-30% next year as a result of the projects.
The opening of the northbound highway will signal the completion of the Lornie Highway.
The soundbound section of the highway was open back in Oct 2018.
In addition to the northbound section of the Lornie Highway, 2 underpasses will open on 19 Apr, namely Sime and Adam Underpass.
These new roads will connect traffic from PIE (Tuas) and Keam Hock Road respectively towards the northbound Lornie Highway.
We are glad that the authorities are anticipating future demands and have built infrastructure ahead of time.
We hope the new highway will ease traffic around the area and bring convenience to residents around the area.
