On Wednesday (5 Aug), a man made fun of a person he described as “lower income people” for recording their plane landing.
In his X post, he also attached a candid photo he took of the person through a tiny gap from the seat behind.
The post has since garnered attention and backlash online, with over 33.5 million views and over 7,700 comments as of writing.

Several commenters pointed out that for many, travelling by air is a unique experience.
One said that planes are simply “cool to watch” because they are “immensely complex yet redundant” machines that fly hundreds of people through the air.
“Not everyone has flown so much that staring out the window stops feeling like the coolest part of the whole trip,” said another.
While one commenter admitted they flew enough so that seeing the sky soar by is not as novel anymore, they also admitted that “some of us never got over how insane it is to be in the sky”.

While some focused on preserving the innocent joy of flying, others criticised the original poster’s (OP) comments.

Several users pointed out that OP was seated behind the “lower income people” in question, which means OP was also in economy.

In a follow-up post, the OP shared that he received direct messages from people he called “a bunch of third worlders”.

Others also called him out for his “rage-baiting”, citing previous posts he had made with similar provoking comments.
