Motorists will now receive On-Board Unit (OBU) alerts when they approach eight existing Parking Enforcement Camera Zones across Singapore.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced the trial on Facebook on 28 Aug, saying the alerts are meant to remind motorists to park safely and responsibly at designated parking locations.

The proximity-based reminders are initially being trialled at eight locations.
LTA is also working on further OBU updates, including displaying bus lane operating hours and speed limits in existing alerts.
Motorists may receive a Parking Enforcement Camera Zone alert when they are in the vicinity of these eight locations:
The alert will inform motorists that parking is not allowed in the area, serving as a reminder to use designated parking locations instead.
However, LTA clarified that these are proximity-based reminders and receiving one will not result in an enforcement notice being issued.
The authority is trialling the feature at the eight locations for now and may expand it to more areas in future.
LTA is also updating existing OBU alerts to display the applicable speed limits in certain areas.

For example, alerts for Silver Zones, Friendly Streets, and School Zones will show a 40km/h speed limit alongside existing reminders to slow down or drive carefully.
The added information is intended to give motorists a clearer reminder of the speed limit as they approach these areas.
LTA said the changes will be progressively rolled out over the coming months.
Another update in the works will make bus lane operating hours clearer on OBU alerts.
Currently, motorists are simply told when a bus lane is in operation. The updated alerts will also show the relevant operating hours.

For part-day bus lanes, this could include morning operating hours from 7.30am to 9.30am, or evening hours from 5pm to 8pm.
Full-day bus lane alerts will similarly show operating hours from 7.30am to 11pm, while bus-only lane alerts will state that they operate at all times, every day.
The updated messages will also indicate when enforcement cameras are in operation.
LTA said the bus lane and speed limit updates will be progressively introduced over the coming months, with more enhancements to OBU alerts also in the works.
