As Malaysia continues to grapple with severe flooding, a cosmetics entrepreneur has made waves by stepping up to spread positivity in the face of devastation.
In a reel posted by Facebook user Tengku Shah, the woman is seen wading through chin-deep floodwaters in front of a row of houses.
“You can be sad, but don’t be too sad,” she says in the clip, which has since gone viral, garnering more than 583,000 views and nearly 4,000 likes.
In the reel, the woman’s surroundings are completely submerged by floodwaters, which reach as high as her chin, leaving only her head above water as she treads through what were once roads.
“All the expensive things, including the motorcycles, are affected by the flood,” she says.
Despite this, she maintains a positive attitude, urging viewers to stay calm and have faith.
“For those experiencing the flood like me, just accept it and leave it to God,” she advises. “Don’t be overwhelmed.”
She then pans the camera to her home, where the front porch is entirely submerged.
A banner for her cosmetics brand, Wanna Cosmetic, is visible on the gate.
In a lighter moment, she zooms in on a CCTV camera she had installed, jokingly warning anyone who might consider stealing her belongings.
Although her home is slightly elevated, floodwaters had still entered through the front door, rising to just below her knees inside.
As the reel went viral on Facebook, netizens expressed their gratitude for her effort to spread positivity during such challenging times.
However, some raised concerns about the risks of soaking in floodwater, which poses significant hygiene dangers.
In another widely shared incident from Malaysia last weekend, a toddler suffered internal bleeding in her private parts after leeches entered her body while swimming in the floodwater.
