On Wednesday (19 Aug), a Malaysian man shared on Threads that he reported multiple netizens in Singapore to the Malaysian police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for bullying and harassment.
One of these users allegedly sent him threats of physical assault, as well as insulted their sultan.

The Original Poster (OP) reminded that being located outside Malaysia does not grant anyone immunity from its laws.
“Only 13 days ago, a Singaporean was arrested in S’pore in connection with an offence he committed in Malaysia,” they wrote.
On 6 Aug, a Singaporean was deported from Malaysia and was charged in Singapore for insulting the Muslim community.
The OP also shared a screenshot of one of the accused individuals’ posts, which appears to slam Sarawakians for their food.
Translation: Sarawakians, is that okay? What kind of dishes are you eating today? Don’t send the dust to SG, we don’t eat dust with caterpillars, if it’s cincalok, it’s fine.. Hehehehe Source: @bruchinoy on Threads
“These people really think Malaysian/sg police can’t trace them if they use cartoon profile photo, they think they IP address and real identity can’t be traced?” the OP added.
On 19 Aug, MS News observed that the accused Threads user frequently provoked other nationalities, as well as Malaysian Muslims, in his posts.

However, said account was no longer available the following day.
In the comments section, another Malaysian netizen shared that they have similarly filed police reports involving two social media users in Singapore.
“One account making fun of our monarchy. One account insulted our local Malay culture,” they claimed.

Meanwhile, another user said that while people can engage in debate, they should not “go too far”.
“Don’t go to the point of threatening and doxing, that’s just too much,” they wrote.
Translation: That’s why I say, if you want to debate, you can, but don’t go too far. Don’t go to the point of threatening and doxing, that’s just too much.

One netizen also reminded that both sides should be “careful and mindful” when engaging with each other online.
