Unhappy that an uncle in his 70s patted his daughter on the head, the girl’s father allegedly pushed him to the floor at a coffeeshop along East Coast Road.
The elderly man’s family is seeking justice by releasing CCTV footage of the incident, which showed the younger man grabbing the elderly man by his arm, then shoving him aside, causing him to fall down.

The incident took place on Saturday (15 Aug) afternoon, according to the post by Bei-Ing Wanton Noodle, which is located in Roxy Square along East Coast Road.
The proprietor’s father, who is in his 70s and had previously injured his leg and hip, was seen hobbling past a table in the CCTV footage, which has a timestamp of 4.37pm.
As he was visibly unsteady on his feet, he had to support himself on the table where a young girl and her mother were sitting.

As the uncle walked past, he briefly patted the girl on her head.

However, the girl’s mother seemed to take issue with this and said something to the uncle.

At this point, the girl’s father, who had been sitting with them earlier, came over and appeared to angrily confront the uncle.

The younger man was seen pointing aggressively as other diners turned to look at what was going on.

The uncle was then allegedly thrown to the floor in full view of startled patrons.

After the uncle fell, his family rushed over to help him up.

The original poster (OP) said they were angry and wanted to confront the man.
But their father kept saying he was okay and did not want to pursue the matter, despite what had happened to him, the OP claimed, adding:
That is the kind of person my father is. Even after being hurt, his first instinct was to let the matter go and not cause further trouble.
In a second video posted by the stall, the girl’s father appeared to have calmed down considerably about a minute later.
He even sat down at a table opposite the elderly man and chatted with him for about 4 minutes.

The pair appeared to have a civil conversation before the man eventually rejoined his family.

The OP said the man apologised and admitted to being “overprotective of his daughter”.
He also offered to buy the uncle a drink, but this was declined.
The incident has caused the family to be “extremely upset and concerned”, and his father to suffer from “severe back pain”, the OP also said, adding:
A drink and an apology cannot simply take away the physical pain or injuries he is experiencing.
The OP decried how their father was just trying to go about his day despite his mobility issues, but was now “suffering” due to an incident that should have been handled calmly.
Some netizens have said that the elderly man was in the wrong for patting the girl’s head, the OP noted, acknowledging that “parents can be protective”.
But the OP pointed out that the girl’s father had apologised, and took this to mean that the man had realised “that the situation had gone too far”.
Whether the elderly man was in the wrong or not, “there was still no need for things to become physical, especially towards an elderly man who already struggles to walk”, the OP reasoned.
The family decided to post about the incident on social media as they want to identify the man and seek justice for their father.
They are not looking to harass or confront anybody, but wanted “the truth to be known” and for the matter to be “addressed appropriately”.
Thus, they appealed to netizens to share the post and send the stall a message if they have any information.
