A 35-year-old man from mainland China was stabbed in the neck following a dispute over payment at a suspected sex service flat in Mong Kok, Hong Kong, in the early hours of 29 July.
The police are seeking a suspect believed to be a transgender woman.
According to The Standard, the man went to a flat on the fourth or fifth floor of King Hing Building on Argyle Street at around 2am.
He then knocked on a door and met an individual believed to be a transgender woman.

A dispute later broke out over payment, during which the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim in the neck with a sharp object.
Meanwhile, Dimsum Daily reported that the conflict came after the man suspected the other party might be male.
He allegedly reached out to touch her Adam’s apple to verify her identity, which angered her.
The man ran downstairs after being stabbed, suffering a 3cm wound on the right side of his neck.
Passersby who noticed the injured man immediately alerted the police.

The man was subsequently conveyed to the hospital while conscious.
Police cordoned off the building and searched the premises, but the suspect had fled the scene.

The altercation left a distinct trail of blood stretching from the rear staircase down a back alley to the main pavement.
Authorities described the suspect as a man aged between 20 and 25 with long hair, who was last seen wearing a white dress.
Three Thai women who cannot speak Cantonese or English were detained and brought to a police station for questioning with the help of interpreters.
The police believe they might know about the incident.
The authorities are investigating the case as an assault, with the suspect still at large.
