A white Mercedes-Benz sedan was filmed moving against traffic on a busy Bangkok road, alarming motorists who saw it travelling the wrong way along a four-lane stretch.
According to Khaosod English, the incident happened at around 1.50pm on 7 Sept on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, before a five-way Lat Phrao Intersection.
Footage shared on TikTok showed the Mercedes approaching from the opposite direction while other vehicles continued travelling normally in their lanes.

The original poster (OP) questioned how the vehicle ended up on the wrong side of the road, writing that the car had travelled against traffic for a long distance.
The clip quickly gained attention online, with many users expressing concern over the potential danger to other motorists.
One user suspected that the driver was a “powerful person”. However, some netizens speculated that the driver may have been facing an emergency.

The OP, Mr Jatuphon (name transliterated from Thai), told Khaosod English that multiple drivers honked their horns, but the Mercedes driver did not stop.
Instead, they activated the car’s hazard lights and continued weaving through traffic in the wrong lane.

The driver appeared to be a Thai woman in her 60s, Mr Jatuphon said.
He also noted that she did not seem to be panicked and was intentionally driving the wrong way.
Additionally, Mr Jatuphon shared that while people sometimes get confused near the intersection, he has never seen anyone drive against traffic on a main highway before.
Mr Jatuphon further speculated that the driver had exited a shopping centre near the Lat Phrao Intersection, intended to make a U-turn, and inadvertently entered the wrong lane.

He expressed concern that rather than pulling over to the shoulder to seek assistance, the driver continued along the highway, which could have caused a serious accident.
“As a fellow road user, I want to urge families to closely monitor elderly relatives if they are unwell or unfit to drive,” he said.
Following the incident, Pol. Maj. Phuchong Mauthung (name transliterated from Thai), traffic police inspector at the Vibhavadi Police Station, said officers reviewed CCTV footage along the route.
They identified the registered owner of the vehicle and summoned the individual to appear for questioning on 8 Sept.
