A migrant worker in Singapore has touched hearts online after offering a man and woman a lift when they struggled to book a ride from a secluded location late at night.
The encounter was shared by TikTok user @rixh.ellee on Sunday (1 Nov), with the Original Poster (OP) saying that “Singapore’s migrant workers have the biggest hearts“.
According to the text overlay, the pair was stranded in an “ulu place” for 30 minutes, unable to book a ride on any ride-hailing app.
The OP said they had asked a few Singaporeans for a lift to “somewhere with more visibility” but were unsuccessful.
They eventually approached the migrant worker when they saw him leaving, and he immediately agreed to help them.
During their interaction, the OP learnt that the worker was actually resting at East Coast Park (ECP) ahead of his work shift, which starts at 3am.

At the time, it was around midnight. He also shared that this unusual sleeping arrangement was part of his normal routine.
When asked if he received any time off, the worker said he had weekends off, but only after completing his eight-hour shifts.
Despite his demanding schedule, the worker was looking forward to returning to India in January 2027 to spend a month with his family.
However, the conversation also revealed the emotional toll of being away from his loved ones.
He also shared that he struggled to put into words the heartbreak he felt whenever he had to leave his family and return to Singapore for work.
According to the OP, he said: “I miss many moments of my son growing up, it’s not easy.”
This seemingly simple gesture by the migrant worker has touched the hearts of many online.
A netizen felt that it was very kind of the worker to give the OP and her friend a lift.

Speaking to MS News, the OP, Richelle, 23, a student, said the wholesome encounter happened last Friday (30 Oct).
She explained that the “ulu place” was East Coast Parkway, and that there were plenty of lorries in that area.
“We were cycling before that and decided to head home at around midnight,” Richelle said. “However, we couldn’t find a ride till 12.30am.”
She told MS News that they approached one or two Singaporeans, but they were hesitant and declined due to personal commitments.
When asked where the worker dropped them off, Richelle said: “He dropped me off at a nearby taxi pick-up point.”
“We thanked him by giving him some cash, hoping he’ll get a quick refuel before his shift started,” she added.
