S’pore Minecraft Player Creates Realistic Replica Of Jewel Changi Amid ‘Circuit Breaker’

Overcoming Stay-Home Boredom By Creating Jewel Changi Using Minecraft Building Blocks

Extensive periods of staying at home during the ‘Circuit Breaker’ can drive people places — up the wall, crazy, just to name a few. However, for this avid Minecraft player in Singapore, the situation seems to have driven him to all-new creative heights.

On Monday (13 Apr), redditor u/CodestianCat shared a beautiful replica of Jewel Changi on the Singapore subreddit.

An architectural Minecraft feat

Minecraft is famous for its block-ish designs and gameplay, which is why this image u/CodestianCat shared of his Jewel Changi creation really catches our eye.

At first glance, it would almost seem like something straight out of the building’s original blueprints.

True to life, we can see the gorgeous digital waterfall which we know so well, cascading into the centre of a lush green dome.

With a sleek see-through rooftop, a well-lit illusion of the popular attraction makes this design all the more aesthetic.

His creation even brings us through the walkways of Jewel Changi that circle around the iconic waterfall.

The Apple store in Jewel might be closed now, but you can still visit its Minecraft counterpart, which is accurate down to the iconic logo.

A size comparison was also made between this gargantuan design and normal Minecraft buildings.

A tedious process to create Minecraft Jewel Changi

In the process of educating our non-Minecraft-playing selves, some Minecraft players from the office shared how tedious the process must have been.

One colleague even pointed out the effort the creator went through to manually place tiny flowers in the lush foliage.

The creator shared that he had started the design in Aug 2019 but only got to it proper over the past few days, presumably due to the ‘Circuit Breaker’.

He explains that he used Worldedit for this design, a mod within the game that allows players to shift, delete, copy, and paste blocks in the thousands at once.

Even with such a mod, we can only imagine that perfecting the design to such an extent must have taken considerable efforts.

Fellow Minecraft players were shookened by digital Jewel Changi

In the same thread, fellow redditors expressed their amazement at the feat.

Some even made requests for him to try more creations.

This user made a very specific, heartfelt request.

‘Circuit Breaker’ has S’poreans turning to creative outlets

Turns out, this Minecraft user is but one of many Singaporeans turning to creative outlets to vent their boredom during the ‘Circuit Breaker’.

Some made beautiful works of art while others made stay-home memes.

We are just glad Singaporeans are taking these tough Covid-19 measures in their stride and producing things that may brighten someone’s day.
