Since the start of the year, several community cats in Ang Mo Kio have gone missing, with one later found by a resident and another discovered dead in the neighbourhood.
A concerned resident, identified as Jiang, reached out to MS News via a tip-off to seek help in locating the missing cats.

In an exclusive with MS News, Jiang said that a particularly concerning case involved Girl Girl, a 10-year-old tabby cat.
She said the cat was last seen sleeping near the stairway leading to the bus stop at Blk 645 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6 on 3 Sept at 8pm.

Girl Girl had lived around the same bus stop all her life, according to Jiang, who said the cat “suddenly disappeared without a trace”.
Her caretakers now worry that she may have become frightened or injured and could be unable to find her way home.

They noted that at her age, this problem could be potentially life-threatening.
The caretakers filed a police report, after which the matter was referred to the National Parks Board (NParks).
In an exclusive with MS News, Jiang said that more senior community cats have gone missing from Ang Mo Kio since the beginning of 2026.
Residents noted two cats going missing: a tabby female cat and a short-haired black female cat.
The 10-year-old tabby, known as Mei Mei, was last seen on 22 April.

The other, known as Blackie, was last seen in the Ang Mo Kio area and has been missing since April.

A third cat, named Baby, has been missing since 15 Aug.
The calico is around three-years-old and her feeders remain anxious about her whereabouts.

Speaking to MS News, Jiang shares that she has managed to find Golden, one of the missing cats.
The senior tabby was the first cat to have gone missing this year after his feeder could not find him for several days.
Jiang shared that they notified the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and NParks, even printing posters and putting them up around the lift lobby to seek help.

However, she claimed that NParks did not take the initiative to look into the CCTV footage.
Thus, she approached the Town Council on the matter.
Although no suspicious person was detected, someone eventually found the cat and Jiang brought Golden back to Ang Mo Kio.
The cat has since been relocated to a housing estate far from the area.
The search for the cats is dire due to the dangers and risks that they could face.
A member of the public previously reported witnessing someone abusing a community cat a few years ago near the same block where Girl Girl went missing.
More recently, a community cat named Johnny was reported missing in June.
Residents later found Johnny dead on a grass patch in the neighbourhood. The circumstances raised concerns about possible abuse.
According to Jiang, NParks closed the case as there was “insufficient evidence”.
Jiang said, “These cats cannot speak for themselves. They cannot tell us where they went, whether they were taken, injured, or whether they are still alive.”

For now, Jiang and the other caretakers have compiled information on the missing cats. They are hoping that the authorities can reconsider the disappearance cases.
