Male motorcyclist & female pillion rider sent to hospital after accident with car along PIE

Accident blocks 2 lanes of the PIE

The clip, which appeared to have been taken from a nearby block, revealed that an accident had taken place along the PIE in the direction of Changi Airport.

A few cars had stopped on the far-right and second-from-right lanes atop the Aljunied Flyover, their hazard lights flashing. A motorcycle appeared to by lying on its side in-between both lanes.

The obstruction meant that traffic was forced to squeeze into the three left-most lanes.

Unsurprisingly, this had caused congestion to form at least up to the intersection with the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE), according to the video.

Police & ambulances arrive as night falls

In a second clip uploaded by the same user, night had fallen but the congestion persisted.

By this time, the authorities were at the scene and had cordoned off the two right-most lanes of the PIE.

The flashing lights of at least two police cars and an ambulance could also be seen. More ambulances were spotted heading towards the location.

Further back, a sea of vehicle headlights could be seen as motorists queued up to get through the congestion.
