Two multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) drivers got into an ugly confrontation on Sentosa Gateway recently, resulting in angry voices, vulgar language and a raised fist.
This happened after an apparent accident between the two vehicles.
The police are reportedly investigating the incident.
A 3-minute-long video of the confrontation between the MPV drivers on Sentosa Gateway was posted on Facebook by SG Road Vigilante – SGRV.
According to the Facebook page, it took place on Sunday (28 Jan).
The confrontation ensued after the two black Toyotas got into an accident, with one in front of the other in the right lane of the road leading to Sentosa.
A few occupants had gotten out of the vehicle and were using their smartphones to take photos of the vehicles.
When the man behind the camera asked, in an agitated tone: “you show what first?”, a woman started filming him.
When he approached the group comprising three women and a man, and continued asking the question, a man in a blue shirt proceeded to show him a crude gesture with his finger.
Undeterred, the man behind the camera then changed his question to: “Why you show me?” and “Why you show the finger to me?”
Ignoring him, the group continued to take photos of the MPVs and the man.
They then returned to their MPV — the one at the rear — but the man behind the camera approached the driver’s door.
The man in the blue shirt, before entering the driver’s seat, pointed his finger at him and uttered an expletive.
This caused the man behind the camera to get louder and hold the driver’s door in an apparent effort to prevent them from leaving.
That was when the man in the blue shirt approached and raised his fist at him.
The man behind the camera then fell to the ground.
He got up quickly, yelling at the top of his voice, while still recording.
As the occupants of the rear MPV went back inside, he demanded to know:
How can you hammer me?
He then ran up to the driver’s door again and appeared to grab on to it, yelling:
Uncle, you cannot beat me!
He also asked in Mandarin: “Why did you beat me?”
The driver in the blue shirt then got out of his vehicle again, but was persuaded to go back in by the women.
Eventually, the MPV at the rear attempted to drive away, but was blocked by the man behind the camera.
He stumbled and fell again, and the car managed to drive off.
Another video of the confrontation has since emerged, seemingly taken from the MPV in the rear.
Posted on Facebook by PROFESSIONAL PHV DRIVERS SINGAPORE:Grab, Gojek,Tada n Ryde, it shows the other driver, wearing a pink shirt, standing in front of their car and recording them with his phone.
As the car attempted to drive off, the man moved very close to it and gestured to the side, appearing to try to catch the attention of other cars driving past.
He then fell theatrically backwards onto the road.
He got up quickly, though, and gestured frantically while continuing to record.
Eventually, the car managed to swerve around him and get away, ending the tense confrontation.
In response to queries, the police told TODAY Online that they have received a report regarding the incident.
They are investigating an altercation between two MPV drivers, they said.
