Musang King Durian Burger From Penang Cafe Lets You Perform An Epic Cheesy Durian Pull

In a post-Milo fried chicken cutlet world, Bubble Tea crabs covered in copious amounts of boba, and White Rabbit gelato don’t even make us break a sweat anymore.

But yes, it’s official. Ric’s Burger in Penang has created an actual Musang King Durian burger.

Given that durians rank high on the smelly index for about 50% of the world’s population, we’re not too sure if many Singaporeans will be willing to give this a try.

But first, here’s what to expect if you do decide to head down to Penang just to see what the commotion is about.

Mozzarella Musang King durian burger patty

The thicc fleshy durian patty is arguably the star of the dish.

Created from Musang King durians originating from local plantations, the durian ‘meat’ of the burger comprises of mozzarella cheese,  generous slabs of butter and egg-breadcrumb crust.

Extra melted durian & cheese topping

Deep fried to a golden crisp, the patty is given the “melted durian and cheese” treatment, before being served between 2 toasted sesame buns.

Ric’s Burger claims they are the first in the world to have achieved this feat. Take a closer look at how they prepare the burger here, in this feature video by Penang Foodie.

Take all our money

For our Muslim friends, do note that this is not a halal eatery. They do, however, have regular burgers as well — if durian just isn’t your thing.

You can expect to fork out at least S$8.86 (RM25.90), which is a tad pricey for a burger by Malaysian standards — but hopefully well worth your money.

Especially since durians are involved.

Here are the details on their opening times, address and contact number.

Address: No. 72-1-3A, Arena Curve, Jalan Mahsuri, Bandar Sunway Tunas, 11900 Bayan Lepas, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia
Opening Hours: Mon-Sun (11am-10.30pm)
Contact No: +60 4-688 5768

The most direct way to get there would be to drive, especially if you’re already planning a road trip to Penang.

BRB, just figuring out a way to score the cheapest plane tickets on a budget airline.
