Two neighbours tearfully embraced in a farewell, as one of them moved out after 23 long years together, as seen in a recent viral video.
Describing them as close like sisters, the property agent also became emotional at the scene.

41-year-old property agent Gina Khazali, also known as ‘Agent G’, posted the video of the goodbye on 24 Aug.
It rapidly gained more than 859,000 views and 69,700 likes at press time.
Gina told MS News that the incident happened recently in the west side of Singapore.
She was the property agent for the final handover of the unit of her client, whom she called ‘makcik’ in the video’s text.

While they were preparing to leave, her client’s neighbour, whom she called ‘aunty’, came over to say goodbye. She said:
They had been neighbours for 23 years, and suddenly both of them started crying and hugging each other.
Gina managed to capture the spontaneous moment on video.
She described them as being very comfortable with each other, sharing thoughts and complaints. Her client would even prepare dishes that she knew her neighbour would like. Gina said:
They were very close…almost like sisters.
The makcik’s grandchildren would also visit the neighbour’s home for snacks and fruits.

The property agent described the aunty as loving them like they were her own grandchildren.
Gina told MS News that agents are usually focused on the transactions themselves. Aspects such as selling the house, timelines, and all the paperwork.

Getting to see moments like this reminded her that they were dealing with people’s homes and memories.
“For us it may be another property transaction, but for the owners, they could be closing a chapter of 10, 20 or even 30 years of their lives,” she explained.
Gina said her clients even specially ordered cakes and gave them to all their neighbours as a farewell gift.

She thus felt a genuine bond beyond just being people who live next door to each other, especially with the aunty.
Seeing them both cry made Gina emotional as well, and she was glad she managed to capture the “very genuine moment”.

Fortunately, the wonders of modern technology meant that the two women could still stay connected.
The day after her client moved out, the aunty messaged her to ask if she was already at her new home.
She wanted to come over and visit, and she still asks for photos of the grandchildren from time to time.
