Netizens praise pilot’s quick action after SIA plane tilts while landing at Perth airport

SIA flight aborts landing amid strong winds

A Singapore Airlines (SIA) plane aborted a landing at Perth International Airport last Saturday (31 Oct) due to strong winds.

Witness footage showed the aircraft tilting noticeably to its right as it approached the landing strip.

The plane’s right wing narrowly avoided the ground before the pilots performed an immediate go-around.

A go-around is a standard procedure where a landing attempt is abandoned before the plane is repositioned for another approach.

SIA flight SQ213 was flying from Singapore to Perth with passengers on board.

Pilots execute go-around amid strong crosswinds

Footage showed the Airbus A350-900 descending towards the runway before sudden crosswinds tilted the aircraft sharply.

Recognising the hazard, the pilots abandoned the landing and climbed away to perform a standard go-around.

An SIA spokesperson confirmed the incident, stating that strong winds on approach prompted the flight crew to abort the landing.

Aircraft lands safely on second attempt

Flight tracking data showed that wind speeds at Perth Airport reached 32km/h during the incident.

The aircraft circled the airspace and lined up for a second approach after the first landing attempt was aborted.

The plane landed safely at 12.30 pm local time and taxied to the gate without issue.
