Manchester United fans have snapped up a rather unusual part of the club’s history after the club put sections of the Old Trafford pitch up for sale.
At the time of writing, the official Manchester United store has marked its “Manchester United 2026 Old Trafford 7x7cm Pitch Cube” as “Out Of Stock”.
This comes after the £125 (about S$211) collector’s item was made available to supporters last Wednesday (23 Sept).
The product consists of a carefully preserved piece of turf from the previous Old Trafford playing surface, displayed inside a cast acrylic cube.

United’s official store described it as a keepsake designed to allow fans to “take home a piece of Old Trafford” and remember iconic home matches.
It was promoted as a collector’s piece, with the club saying the preserved turf could also be displayed on a desk or inside a cabinet.
The official listing also gives the product a length of 80mm and states that it is made from 100% cast acrylic (PMMA).
According to the club, the pitch underwent a major overhaul in June. The previous surface was removed and sections were preserved before being turned into memorabilia.
The meticulous project was carried out by award-winning groundskeeper Tony Sinclair and his team of experts.
The objective was to regrow the surface to enhance player safety and improve water drainage.
Preserved pitch sections were then placed in glass cubes, giving United fans a unique keepsake.
“Don’t worry, there aren’t any holes in the pitch right now…” the club said jokingly.
The interesting memorabilia has caught the attention of fans and netizens, with many less than impressed with the product.
A United fan was embarrassed that their club was selling pieces of turf.

The turf sale has also attracted attention because it coincided with Manchester United publishing its latest financial results.
Although the club posted a record £677.6 million (S$1.17 billion) in revenue for the 2026 fiscal year, its debt surpassed £1 billion (S$1.69 billion), driving it into a pre-tax loss.
It is also unclear whether the club will be releasing another batch of Old Trafford turf cubes for sale.
