Rainwater seen pouring from ceiling onto escalator & staircase at Potong Pasir MRT station

Rainwater pours onto escalator and staircase of Potong Pasir MRT station during heavy downpour

An unusual sight greeted commuters at Potong Pasir MRT Station during a recent thunderstorm after rainwater began leaking from the station ceiling onto an escalator and staircase below.

The incident was captured in a TikTok video posted on 9 May.

Rainwater seen gushing into MRT station

In the video posted by @patoei413, water could be seen leaking from the ceiling onto the escalator and the staircase below.

The text overlay on the short clip said: “POV: Raindrops keep falling on my head at…”, suggesting the Original Poster (OP) found humour in the unexpected “indoor waterfall”.

However, the steady flow of water also raised concerns online over possible safety hazards, especially with wet escalator steps and staircases increasing the risk of slips and falls during busy commuting hours.

The footage showed commuters continuing to use the area despite the leak, including one woman walking up the stairs while water continued dripping nearby.
