‘Store enough water’: Redhill Road resident concerned after notice announces week-long repair work to supply pipes

Tanjong Pagar Town Council advises residents to store water before supply disruption

Residents of several Housing Development Board (HDB) blocks in Redhill Road have been advised to “store enough water” for their use ahead of urgent repair works to the water supply pipes.

Resident concerned after seeing notice

MS News reader Bernie Goh, whose father is living in one of the affected blocks, saw the notice on 4 Oct when he was visiting.

He said that his father had raised concerns about the upcoming disruption after seeing the notice.

According to the notice in the lift, the works are scheduled from 30 Oct to 5 Nov.

It stated that residents should “store enough water for your use before the water supply is disrupted”.

However, it does not mention when exactly the water supply will be cut off, or how long each disruption is expected to last.

Mr Goh also shared that no one had communicated anything about temporary water supply arrangements to his father.

“This was the only notice provided and no alternative arrangements have been communicated,” he said.

More information needed for planning purposes

This has left the resident seeking clarification over whether households are expected to store enough water for the entire duration.

Mr Goh also felt that it will be useful to inform residents if the water supply will only be affected at certain times during the day.

The lack of details may be a concern for households that have limited space to store water.

Elderly residents may also struggle to carry or obtain additional water supplies.

Water supply will remain available

In response to MS News’ queries, the Tanjong Pagar Town Council said that the notice was for the annual cleaning of the water tanks at Blocks 68 and 70 Redhill Road, scheduled for 30 Oct and 5 Nov, from 9am to 5pm.

“The water supply will remain available during the cleaning works, although residents may experience some fluctuation in water pressure,” said a spokesperson for the town council.

A revised notice will also be posted to clarify the works and water supply arrangements for residents.
