Meanwhile, the store manager explained that the chef instinctively spat after “oil got into his mouth”.
They also said that the staff members involved would be dealt with severely.
On 27 April, the Daliang Subdistrict Market Supervision and Management Office issued a notice stating the police had sent personnel to the scene for an investigation.
They found that the business involved, Ai Luobo Jiangxi Restaurant, is a takeout-only restaurant.
The authorities have ordered the restaurant to immediately cease operations for rectification and have launched further investigation.
They have reportedly urged the store to do a comprehensive disinfection, and samples of relevant food ingredients have been collected for testing.
The results of the investigation will be released to the public swiftly.
According to Jimu News, Ai Luobo Jiangxi is a chain restaurant that has 56 stores across 10 provinces in China.
