It is not odd for restaurants to receive peculiar requests in their food orders, but one particularly ominous one raised all the red flags for a pair of restaurant owners in Thailand.
The couple shared on Facebook that they recently received an order in which the customer said that this would be their “last meal”.
“I’m leaving my last meal to this restaurant,” read the message.

The couple initially tried to read the message in a positive light, assuming that the customer had simply meant this would be her last meal before a major change in her life.
They thought she might have been moving homes or about to start a diet.
However, they could not shake a sinking feeling and began doing all they could to reach out to the customer.
The owners gave the customer multiple phone calls, all which went unanswered.
The couple then split their attention, with one going to cook the order while the other continued to find ways to contact the customer.

Despite their best efforts, their chats and calls seemed to go unnoticed. This alarmed them even further.
At their wit’s end, they asked the delivery rider to help keep an eye out for the customer when he delivered the order.
“We know this is overstepping boundaries,” the owners acknowledged. “But we simply could not overlook this.”
Fortunately, the woman eventually responded to their chats on the food delivery app.
The woman revealed that she had indeed intended for that meal to be her final one. She told the couple that she had been going through a really rough time.
The couple allowed the woman to air out her frustrations and grief, but also reminded her that her life had value.
The conversation eventually led to the woman telling the couple that she would not give up on life and continue to move on.
The experience left the restaurant owners with a newfound appreciation for their service.
“We never know whether or not our food will be someone’s treasure,” they remarked.
The Facebook post, originally published on 17 Aug, has since received more than 9,500 likes and 180 comments.
