Man standing on 8th floor of aircon ledge at Bukit Banjang HDB flat, rescued by SCDF

A 42-year-old man was rescued after he was spotted on the aircon ledge of an eighth-floor unit at Block 635B Senja Road.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told MS News that they were called to the block at about 9am last Sunday (4 Oct).

A netizen posted a video of the rescue on the Complaint Singapore Facebook page on 6 Oct.

SCDF rappelled from unit above to rescue man

According to SCDF, the man was seen standing on the aircon ledge outside the kitchen window of an eighth-floor unit when rescuers arrived.

SCDF deployed a safety life air pack as a precaution.

Rescuers from its Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (DART) then rappelled from the unit above.

They brought the man safely back into the building.

SCDF conveyed him to Woodlands Hospital.

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) also told MS News that officers responded to the incident after receiving a call for assistance at about 9am.

They found the 42-year-old man sitting on the ledge of a residential unit.

 

As he was assessed to potentially pose a danger to himself, officers from the Crisis Negotiation Unit and SCDF responded.

Rescuers brought the man to safety at about 9.50am, about 50 minutes after the SCDF was alerted.

He was conscious when conveyed to hospital.

Police subsequently apprehended him under Section 7(1) of the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) Act 2008.
