Gunfire was reported on Friday (7 Aug) morning at a school in Thailand. According to Khaosod, at least three teachers and three students, in addition to the gunman, have lost their lives.
20 more students were left injured.
The incident, which occurred at Debsirin Nonthaburi School in Nonthaburi province, was first reported at 10am.
A student who was inside the school at the time of the shooting said the gunman was another student who had been wearing the school’s purple physical education uniform.
Another student told reporters that they had initially believed the sound of the gunshots to be firecrackers.

It was reported that the gunman had been hiding on the third floor of one of the buildings on campus.

Police later confirmed that the gunman, who is suspected to be a ninth grade student, fatally wounded himself.
At 10.45am, it was reported that emergency responders attempted to give the gunman CPR before conveying him to the hospital.

The BBC reported that at least two schools nearby dismissed class early.
Police are currently investigating the shooting to determine what happened, what the gunman’s motive may have been, and how he obtained the firearm.
Thus far, a search of the gunman’s home revealed his grandparents had been shot. Authorities currently suspect the gunman was responsible for the shooting at his home before the school shooting.
