Seminar on insomnia in Thailand proves effective after photos show attendees counting sheep during lecture

Staying awake during class is one of life’s greatest challenges.

This was used to great effect late last month when a seminar on insomnia ironically proved effective as a cure when it managed to knock attendees out cold.

Photos from the event quickly went viral online, with many netizens chiming in with jokes, while others shared their own solutions for avoiding sleeplessness.

Originally shared on 27 June, the photos once again made rounds on social media. The original post garnered over 12,000 likes and 345 comments.

In the caption, the Facebook page said they visited the seminar, which took place at Ramkhamhaeng Hospital in Bangkok, quite a while after it had begun.

“I was stuck with an errand, so I only went when the seminar was almost over,” they had written. “I did not get a chance to hear what technique to alleviate insomnia the lecturer spoke about, but I think it was certainly effective.”

Photos show attendees in various states of drowsiness, from yawning to straight up falling off their chairs while asleep.

In the comments section, the Facebook page admitted to using AI to edit the faces so that they would not face legal trouble, but insisted that the attendees were actually sleeping.

They also added a highly censored image of someone seemingly asleep as evidence.

Additionally, they added that the seminar had provided aroma sachets, chamomile tea, and blasted the air conditioning — all perfect for inducing sleep.

Many commenters jokingly said that this was a job well done by the lecturer. One even said there was no need for drugs and all you really needed was to listen to the doctor speak for a while.

Another commenter said that he brought out his old Biology textbook as his best cure for insomnia.

“I never make it past 20 pages before finding myself passed out until morning,” he wrote.

Sadly, the seminar may not have been held at the ideal time for most.

As one commenter puts it: “I would like to invite the lecturer to speak near bedtime.”
