For the first time in a while, Singapore has no new Covid-19 cases, according to the Ministry of Health (MOH) on Sunday (23 Feb).
This leaves the existing total at 89, with the only numbers changing for recovery.
2 more have made full recovery and left the hospital today, meaning a total of 51 out of the 89 so far have beaten the virus.
With no new cases, the total count for confirmed patients remains at 89, just like yesterday (22 Feb).
Addressing news of a confirmed case from GYMMBOXX Bishan, MOH released new info about the 41-year-old male Permanent Resident (PR).
Identified as the 89th case, the fund manager at Affinity Equity Partners in Temasek Boulevard had visited the gym on 6 Feb.
Prior to that, he started noticing symptoms on 3 Feb, and had visited GPs the same day, as well as on 7, 10, 17 and 21 Feb. He apparently went to 2 different clinics for treatment.
He was referred to NCID on 21 Feb, before testing positive for Covid-19 the next morning (22 Feb). GYMMBOXX announced the closure of its Bishan outlet later that night.
GYMMBOXX Bishan is located at Bishan Community Club (Bishan CC), at 51 Bishan Street 13.
Of the 89 confirmed cases, 2 more have successfully recovered and been discharged from hospital, bringing total recovery to 51.
Of the remaining 38 who are still in hospital, 5 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), while the rest are “stable or improving”.
Despite recording successful recovery among some cases, Grace Assembly of God Church still stands as the largest cluster with 23 cases to date.
The other clusters, with relatively fewer cases but still worth noting are:
Since raising DORSCON to Orange on 7 Feb, authorities have not hinted at changing alert levels in any direction.
Having more than half of the patients recovering from the virus and going home is a significantly optimistic statistic, but perhaps the government doesn’t want to be complacent.
Whatever future developments may be, let’s remain vigilant and await official updates or advisories from credible sources like the Ministry of Health (MOH).
