The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed 3 new Covid-19 cases in Singapore today (27 Feb), bringing the total to 96.
Among the new cases is a student a Raffles Institution (RI), according to a report by Channel NewsAsia (CNA).
4 more have recovered and left the hospital, marking discharge cases count at 66.
The 12-year-old RI student hasn’t travelled to China, Daegu or Cheongdo recently.
He, however, has links to 1 of the other 2 new cases, a 64-year-old woman, Singapore’s 94th case.
The student tested positive for Covid-19 today (27 Feb) and is now in an isolation room at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
According to CNA, the student had attended a class at the MOE Language Centre (MOELC) in Bishan on 20 Feb.
He only started feeling unwell the next day (21 Feb). He hadn’t been in school since then.
Both RI and MOELC Bishan will close tomorrow for disinfection, and reopen on Monday, when classes will resume.
All staff and students who came into contact with the student recently will be on a 14-day Leave of Absence (LOA) effective immediately.
CCAs at RI will be on hold for two weeks.
Case 94, presumably a relative, showed symptoms on 11 Feb but only consulted a general practitioner (GP) on 17 Feb.
She went again on 17, 20 and 24 Feb before doctors sent her to Singapore General Hospital (SGH), where she was immediately isolated.
She also has no travel history to China, Daegu or Cheongdo.
Case 95, a 44-year-old Singaporean man, like the other 2, has no travel history to any of the virus hotspots.
He does, however, have links to Case 93, who’s now at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.
On the brighter side, 4 more patients have recovered, including the National University Hospital (NUH) administrative staff.
Of the 30 who remain in hospital, 8 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 1 more than yesterday.
No further information is available about their condition.
While the new cases are worrying, the fact that more and more are recovering each day gives us hope that things are looking up.
We wish the patients in hospital a speedy recovery, and that their families stay strong through this ordeal.
