S’pore ‘Home’ Singalong On 25 Apr Night, Get Ready With Flashlights At Windows & Balconies

Singaporeans Are Singing ‘Home’ On 25 Apr From Windows & Balconies In True #SGUnited Spirit

Most might remember the moving moment when Singapore broke into applause for our healthcare heroes earlier this March.

As part of a new initiative, the nation is once again calling for your participation.

This Saturday (25 Apr) at 7.55pm, show your appreciation for our frontline workers and migrant workers by lending your voice.

Families are encouraged to wave torchlights from your windows and balconies and sing along to the iconic national day song ‘Home’.

Join in the nationwide karaoke

Apart from a gesture of appreciation, Sing Together Singapore! also aims to lift spirits in light of recent Covid-19 updates, according to Mediacorp.

Singaporeans can look forward to a new rendition of ‘Home’ sung by local artistes, to be aired on TV at the same time this Saturday.

You can also tune in to meWATCH or meLISTEN online, or simply visit Gov.sg Facebook page to access the video.

Meanwhile, you can check out the OG version here:

Almost like a ‘Circuit Breaker’ karaoke session, citizens are encouraged to sing in unison from the comfort of their homes.

For the extra feels, do wave a torchlight while you unleash your inner Singaporean.

Record your own ‘Home’ cover

Furthermore, organisers are compiling a special music video to commemorate this once in a lifetime nation singalong.

Hence, they are hoping Singaporeans can capture these memories on video and upload it to social media.

Do remember to use the hashtags: #singtogetherSG, #SingaporeTogether and #stayhomeforSG and set your post to public.

The second music video featuring our singing will air on the same Saturday evening at 10.30pm.

As such, do stay tune after the event to see what fellow Singaporeans have come up with.

Display of unity in times of difficulty

With the extension of the ‘Circuit Breaker’ and grimmer Covid-19 news each day, one cannot help but feel pretty isolated from all the news and social distancing.

The media industry hence initiated this movement to connect individuals at heart during this tough period of uncertainty.

In Mediacorp Chief Customer Officer Irene Lim’s words,

At this uncertain time, it is even more important… to rally our fellow Singaporeans to stay united. While we are all physically apart in our respective homes, I hope everyone can come together this Saturday to show the Singapore spirit by joining the singalong.

This might very well be the boost we need to stay motivated for the remainder of the ‘Circuit Breaker’, strengthening our sense of unity for all that lies ahead.

Set your alarms

Seeing the enthusiastic response for the Clap For #SGUnited movement, we are expecting more families to join in this wholesome and heartwarming display of solidarity on Saturday.

Therefore, set your alarms for 7.55pm this weekend and bring along the rest of your family members. You will not want to miss out on this nationwide jamming session.
