After a whirlwind romance which began in Europe and climaxed at a wedding in June last year, Kelantan Sultan Muhammad V and former Russian beauty queen Oksana Voevodina are allegedly divorcing after getting married only a year ago.
A report by Malaysian site Astro Awani has released documents of the couple’s divorce proceedings – in them, the filing date was 22 June this year while the Shariah Courts approved the motion on 1 July.
This might come as a bit of a shock, considering Oksana’s newly-opened Instagram account under the name of Rihana Petra – her Islamic name, it appears – is only a month and a half old.
On this Instagram account, she gave details of her marriage to former Agong (King) Muhammad V, including the day they married — June 2018.
According to a post dated a week ago, Oksana apparently turned down a 1-year modeling contract in New York and travelled to Malaysia with her mother in 2017 on invitation of Muhammad V — eventually falling in love with the country.
The ex-Agong confessed his feelings on a ‘romantic night’ there, before they got married in June 2018.

Before that, they had met in Europe in Sept 2017, where she jokingly referred to herself as ‘Queen of Russia’. In an ironic twist of fate, she would become the unofficial Queen of Malaysia when she married the former Agong.
This is not the first time that divorce rumours have surfaced – back in January, The Mirror ran a report alleging the same, although they were denied by the bride’s father then.
At the time, Oksana was already pregnant with a baby, Tengku Ismail Leon Petra ibni Sultan Muhammad V, who was born on 21 May 2019.
A couple who divorces each other Islamically can divorce a total of 3 times.
Since the divorce, those who are fans of the couple can hold out hope for reconciliation.
Meanwhile, there have been no official confirmations about the split from either side at the time of writing.
